The Crossborder Forum is a network of civil society organisations and activists working in the Belgium-France-UK cross-border space. While governments on both sides of the Channel engage in cross-border talks and bilateral agreements, the Crossborder Forum was established to provide the civil-society space and infrastructure for transnational dialogue and solidarity to build a shared vision of the border and better understand and resist state policies on cross-border migration.
Cross-border migration and asylum issues relating to the UK’s border with France and Belgium have been ongoing for decades, creating an untenable situation for people on the move transiting through the border region and by extension for organisations working with them.
Tackling cross-border migration issues requires good knowledge and understanding of political dynamics and policy changes in each country. Spaces for quickly and easily exchanging this information and analysis are essential to respond to policy changes, work on joint actions, and establish campaigns in either country.
